What about Dave? A familiar face returning to logistics at the Office of the Secretary of Defense

By Steve Geary | 11/10/2014 | 4:10 AM

Dave Berteau is a name that some of us remember, and a leader who many of us respect.  About a week ago, the White House announced that the President intends to nominate David Berteau for the post of assistant secretary of defense for logistics and materiel readiness at the Pentagon.  Eminently qualified, let’s hope that the Senate does the right thing and confirms Dave without a lot of fuss and bother.

Currently, Mr. Berteau is a senior vice president at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a respected think tank in Washington.  Before that, he worked for almost a decade at SAIC as a senior vice president, and has been associated with the Defense Acquisition University, Syracuse University, and Georgetown University.

He served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Production and Logistics during the administration of George H.W. Bush, and before that he served in leadership roles in the Reagan administration.

If confirmed, Dave will replace acting director Paul Peters.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Dave, and let’s congratulate Paul Peters on a job well done.
